About

Bio

Zoee Xiao is a Texas-based painter who works primarily in watercolor and acrylic. Her art blends the minimalist Eastern aesthetics with the colorful expressiveness of Western styles. Born and raised in a beautiful southern town in China, Zoee began her artistic journey under the guidance of a sumi-e painter. After moving to the United States, she studied animation at the University of Pennsylvania and later worked as a software engineer in the gaming industry.

Despite her career in tech, Zoee’s love for art never faded. She spent years developing her artistic voice while working in gaming. In 2022, she quit her job to pursue art full-time. Drawing inspiration from childhood memories, she captures the essence of simplicity and playfulness that often gets lost in adulthood. Through her fantastical interpretation of childhood memories, Zoee aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia and joy, inviting viewers to reconnect with the beauty found in everyday moments.

Zoee has exhibited across the U.S. and internationally in Taiwan. Her paintings have been featured in Almost Real Things and Canvas Rebel magazines, and she has collaborated with Microsoft and Etchr on public art and educational projects.
